Question from Awesome-Everyday: How long does Peyote last and is it a long smooth trip?
Answer: First as a disclaimer, I personally have never experienced Peyote/Mescaline. I came across some Mescaline Tea at a festival a few summers ago but it proved to be not that potent, and I was already under the influence of many other substances so chances are even if It did hit me, I didn’t know it. That being said, I certainly have spent my fair share reading / learning about it, and have many acquaintances who have indulged.
Here is my general take on it: Peyote / Mescaline (mescaline is the active ingredient in peyote) leans very far to the Spiritual Side of Psychedelics, it is amazing for analyzing your life, your surroundings, your connection with people and nature around you, but not the best for recreational use. Where LSD and MDMA might have you dancing in the late night tent at a festival, Mescaline is much more relaxing in the sense that you want to lie down and just absorb your peaceful surroundings. As far as smoothness goes, be ready to puke your brains out an hour into consuming (this is how you know it’s legit). It happens because your brain is realizing what you just consumed, and it goes into protection mode, thinking you are poisoned. Depending on the person, the stomach issue isn’t that bad as long as you are expecting it and prepared for it. Cannabis will help with the stomach issue, as well as any over the counter motion sickness medicine. After this initial wave of nauseous , you should be able to settle in for a very peaceful experience. Depending on how many buttons / mg’s you consume, I would be prepared for an 8 to 12 hour trip. Some people have reported experiencing much longer trips but that isn’t the norm.
Side Notes: With any psychedelic, the mindset going into it, the environment, and the company you keep are all so important to have an amazing experience. It is important to respect the power of these plants and chemicals, with great power comes great responsibility.
